We’re trying a new system in our house this week, and of course, I want to share it with all of you. It’s called THINK…and it’s good, really good.

Before you speak, you are encouraged to THINK. If you do not think, or you can’t yes to each of the following questions, then consequences will ensue.

T — Is it TRUE?

H — Is it HELPFUL?

I — Is it INSPIRING?

N — Is it NECESSARY?

K — Is it KIND?

I’ve used a modified version of this in the past, just focusing on truth, kind, and necessary. The kids were younger then, and now we needed to add helpful and inspiring, as I want to concentrate on their tone of voice in addition to what is actually said.
