Welcome to April! It seems like we were just saying Happy New Year and here we are into spring. Here’s what’s on my mind this month.
Easter is in two weeks. From the outfits to the photos to the dinner to baskets, it’s a busy holiday. This year I’ve decided to go non-traditional on all of it. We are attending worship service on Saturday and my outfit stipulation with the kids is that we will be comfortable. In case you didn’t know this, C.J. is a self-proclaimed fashion icon so I’m not really sure what that will look like for him because #icon. For me and the girls though, Converse will definitely be involved and we are having barbecue for dinner! I’m also working on their baskets – which are going to be interesting considering their ages. Last year everything was emoji-themed. Who knows what I’ll do this year (and considering they read this blog, I can’t write about it until after it’s done.)
Priscilla Shirer Live. No matter where you live and what you are doing on Saturday, April 8, you don’t want to miss this event! Priscilla Shirer is a bible teacher, author, blogger, and mom who is leading a full-day of worship for women everywhere! If you want to learn more about her, check out her website and read my review of her book, Fervent. If you want to go all in, it will probably be good to watch the movie War Room this week, too. Lifeway Women is broadcasting the event live and for as little as $25.00 you can watch via the internet on your computer in your pajamas. Disclaimer: I’m an Ambassador for Lifeway Women and B&H Publishing Blogger. Even if I wasn’t though, I’d be all over this event. Priscilla is amazing and will even take a photo with you if you happen to see her in public and you have a serious fan-girl moment.
Reluctant Entertaining. It has been on my heart to become a relunctant entertainer. I’m not relunctant because I don’t want to do it, I’m reluctant because when I entertain I always feel that everything has to be perfect. This month, in honor of Easter and sharing my heart with the people who are important to me, I’m imperfectly entertaining. I don’t care if I can’t find the tablecloth or the serving dish or if we don’t have the good ice. I’m doing it anyway. This blog is helping me do it and of course, I’ll let you know how it all turns out!
Take Your Salads for a Spin. I discovered my new salad spinner and it makes my life so much easier! The first night I used it, Jada and I made three different salads and called it a DIY salad bar for dinner. I’m working on a blog post with all of the details, but this has been a great way to make sure we get our fruits and veggies in each day.
Fro Yo Sweet 16. Tyra turns 16 in October. Her Sweet 16 party is going to have a Frozen Yogurt theme and I’m working on the planning. Check out my Pinterest board and feel free to give me any suggestions…she wants it casual and fun but not cutesy like a kid party. It’s going to be at one of the popular teen hangouts near us.
Graphic T-Shirts. I am all into graphic tees this year. From bible verses to inspirational quotes to current events, I absolutely love them! I think maybe I actually started liking them last year because this is what I wore to church last Easter.
That’s all we’ve got hapening this month. What are your plans for April?
