Fear. Uncertainty. Anxiety. Worry. Despair. Isolation. Loneliness.
At any point on any given day, that’s pretty much what we’re feeling. We feel it as a nation. on our jobs, in our families…and it doesn’t feel good. When we turn on the television we’re faced with images of politicians who are ranting, people who are hoarding, and communities that are suffering as a result of a worldwide pandemic.
Yet and still, COVID-19 doesn’t have the last say.
The rising numbers of diagnosed cases don’t have the last say.
The deaths don’t have the last say.
The news media doesn’t have the last say.
Public health officials don’t have the last say.
The only authority on this issue is the only One who knows everything about everything – God. And while we feel some type of way about all of this in our humanity, His word tells us otherwise, because, our feelings aren’t the authority here.
“Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will reveal to us later”. – Romans 8:18
I know I’m not the first person to say during the coronavirus pandemic that we need to pray more, spend more time with God more, and re-commit our lives to Him and His commands. However y’all, it’s true…and bears worth repeating.
The Bible has everything thing we need to get through this situation right now.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” – 2 Timothy 3:16
When I’m talking to a friend, praying with my family, or thinking about my own situation, the only comfort I truly have is in God’s promises, as they are written in the Bible. When Jesus fasted and Satan tried to tempt Him, He simply answered with “It is written” statements. Y’all if it’s good enough for Jesus, then it’s more than good enough for me. I hope these statements can offer peace and contentment for you during this time. If they don’t when you read them at first, read them until they do. You know, reading the authoritative Word of God has that kind of effect on people.
It is written that His presence shines brightly over everything.
It is written that He always encourages, strengthens and comforts.
It is written that no valley is so deep or so dark that He can’t see the way out of it for us.
It is written that He is always with us.
It is written that He will never leave us.
It is written that He has already gone before us.
It is written that He guarded us when we were asleep last night.
It is written that we will not be defeated.
It is written that He hears our cries.
It is written that we don’t need to be discouraged or afraid.
It is written that He’s got us.
It is written that the Lord is on your side.
It is written that you have faith in what you cannot see.
It is written that His hand is with you.
It is written that His peace is within you.
It is written that right now, He is working within you for a good purpose.
It is written that you are radiant.
It is written that you have His treasure.
It is written that you have sound judgment, power, and the love of God within you.
It is written that He will give you even more strength.
It is written that He’s closest to you right now.
It is written that you have a discerning heart and mind.
It is written that there is no authority except what God has established.
It is written that your feelings cannot be trusted.
It is written that God’s righteousness is not affected by us.
It is written that His glory always prevails.
What words of God do you know to be true, especially during the current issues our world is facing today?
