Are You Looking for a Master Plan(ner) in 2017?

My first confession of 2017 is simple. I am a planner addict. I can go into a store for the most routine of reasons and end up trapped in the stationary/ school supply/ planner aisle for several minutes only to decide that I don’t need an 8th planner for the same year, or I’m on a time crunch and I absolutely must leave. That happens when that 5-minute trip to the store has now become 35 minutes, and usually the only thing that pulls me away is the fact that I must go pick up the teens I love from school.

One of the reasons this is my absolutely favorite time of year is the notion of planning. I love the feeling of looking at a calendar and imaging what the next 12 months will unveil – where I will go, what I will see, or who I will meet. Because we are on the cusp of a new year, most planners are on sale – some for as much as 50 percent off the original prices. (That’s generally the part that makes it’s so difficult for me not to buy…I love a good sale!)  Continue reading

Holiday Organization Printables & More

Hey friends!

Thanksgiving is next week. Now, let’s imagine that I said that without hyperventilating. Except I am hyperventilating. And I’m not hosting anyone for dinner.

I suppose all of my anxiety about Thanksgiving is actually in preparation for the entire holiday season. So just in case you feel the slightest bit uneasy, I have some things to help you. Everything loves a good printable (or two),  right?

Remember to sit down with your family to create a Family Holiday Bucket List so that you all can do the things that matter. Remember, no matter busy this season becomes, it’s time to focus on People Over Things. If you’d like a reminder delivered to your inbox every day from November 21 – January 1, sign up here.

Don’t forget to keep your holiday shopping list somewhere accessible like your purse. If you need a reminder on all of the things you need to do now, click on the image below to check out my Rock the Holidays webinar. Remember though, today is November 16 and everything I mentioned in the list needed to have been done by yesterday in order for you to stay ahead of the game. I just wanted to call that to your attention, but no pressure okay?

Today on the Mocha Mob radio show, I’ll talking about what you need to be doing to prepare specifically for Thanksgiving, because after all it is next week. And of course, I’ll update you on what you can do to prepare your hearts and your minds for Christmas.

(Disclosure: This post does contain affiliate links for Amazon.)

I’m really glad you’re reading this today, but I sense you’ve got some preparations to make. And if, just if, your to-do list is feeling a tad to much, let Amazon help. Really, no one will know (or care) if your vegetable chopper was ordered on the internet. And if you’re not cooking, they have an excellent selection of hostess gifts and how-to videos on preparing typical holiday food items.

Family Togetherness This Fall With Road Trips

The Homeschool Workspace

Let’s talk some more about homeschool shall we?

An important part of homeschooling is being organized and organizing my son’s learning space. Since I am not the only adult that helps him with his homeschooling, everything has to be organized.

The other little pickle in our homeschooling plan is that we physically do not have a lot of space at home. So in addition to being organized, I’ve got to do it in a small space.

When I tell you I make use of every inch on one of my bookshelves, I am not kidding. So here’s what our homeschool materials/ textbook/ bookshelf looks like:

Each shelf has specific subject areas, including a section for reference materials and magazines that we use for current events. We even keep school supplies in the bottom drawer with writing utensils, highlighters, markers, etc in the cylinder on the middle shelf.

During the school year, I am a fanatic about keeping that shelf neat and organized. Even on weekends. But in the summer, not so much. Matter of fact, if I took a picture of it today…well let’s just say I didn’t take the photo above anytime this summer.

And then there’s the walls. I keep them covered with resources related to the topics we are covering. Here’s an example:

Sometimes I’ll place the chart paper on the wall and use it like a blackboard for him to do problems on, or he can write questions he has as he’s progressing any given lesson.

I use the sticky back chart paper. And when we are break from school, I just take the sheets down. This summer, our dining room and living room are covered with the kids’ goals for the summer, Bible verses they are studying, and the summer chore charts.

Some families I know have dedicated rooms for all of their homeschool items, but we just don’t have the space for that so we make it work with the space we do have. And for us it works.

Enjoy your Thursday!

Summer Organization Project: My In-Box(es)

Hello. My name is Toni and I have a lot of email addresses.

I have so many email addresses that the Three Amigos don’t need their own email addresses. They each actually use one of mine. Because I have several. Like 10…I think. Matter of fact, I asked Cheryl  last week how many she had and she didn’t respond. She just kind of looked at me with that “We both love technology and have adult  A.D.D., so there’s no need for me to answer” look. So, I think she has a lot too.

So, why do I need more than 2 (the basic one for work and one for home)? The answer is simple. I don’t need more than two! At all. I want more than 2. And now, I don’t know what to do with them.

And the reason I am keeping them is because I think I’m supposed to do something with them. All of them. So that’s what I’m going to figure this week. Why I have them, and if it’s a good reason, then I’ll keep them. If not, I’ll delete them. And just so I don’t convince myself of the good reason, I have to put that reason into effect right away.

But for now, I’m taking a poll. After all it’s only Tuesday and the end of the week is not until Saturday. How many email addresses do you have? If you have more than two email addresses, how do you use them?
