Tyra Needs Our Help!

Happy Labor Day friends!

I originally wasn’t planning on posting today, but Tyra (T1) has asked me to. She is having a fashion issue. You see, tomorrow is the first day of 6th grade. She has selected her outfits for the week, but she’s not sure what order she wants to wear them in. This is her first year since 1st grade with no uniform and she wants to send the right message.

“I want the world to know I’m smart, funny, cool, caring, friendly, and spiritual. My outfits must say that…and since I’m at a new school, friendly is the priority,”

So I made some suggestions, but they didn’t work. And she asked if it’d put the outfits on the blog. Because she thinks you all are smarter than I am when it comes to 6th grade fashion. So we got the outfits, we just need them put in order Tuesday-Friday. Can you help?

Here are the choices:

2013-09-02 03.21.33

Outfit #!

2013-09-02 03.19.00

Outfit #2

2013-09-02 03.19.40

Outfit #3

2013-09-02 03.20.21

Outfit #4

She’d be ever so pleased if you weigh in on this one.  Reply to this post with the outfits in order of the day you think they should be worn.

Thanks!

A Week Without the Kids

siblingcampphotoSunday

It didn’t hit me until I got home that they weren’t going to be back for a week. I enjoyed the quiet for a bit and read, but then I wondered. I wondered what they were doing…if they were having problems with allergies and asthma…if they would be nice to each other while they were gone. And then I cried. And I cried. And I decided that crying was okay because it allowed me to process my emotions. And then I cried some more. I was actually shocked at myself, but I missed my Littles.

Monday

I had to work, and I was all cried out, so there wasn’t much else to do. I did however, figure out the login information to the camp website and I was able to photos of all three of the kids. And you know what? They were smiling and having a great time! The boy was jet skiing and the girls were in some opening night talent show were they all dressed up like a cross between teeny-bopper girls from the 80’s and clowns. It felt good…really good to see them having a good time. I think we are going to make it through the week.

Tuesday

Camp photos so far are full of the boy and the oldest girl. I have not seen my baby since Sunday’s activity photos. Tita said she thinks she’s been with the nurse for the past 2 days with the “stomach ache.” Ahhh…the stomach ache. The stomach ache she gets when she doesn’t want to do chores. The stomach ache she gets just as Tita gets out of class and could go pick her up from school. The stomach ache she had when the other two were in the hospital overnight with their tonsils and she had to stay with her grandparents because I was staying at the hospital. So now, we think she’s got the stomach ache…and she’s probably sad. And that makes me sad because I really want her to have a good time this week. Sigh.

Wednesday

Photos of the youngest child surfaced! And she does look ummm…a little salty. She’s definitely not the social butterfly her sister is, and she’s not the cool, swagalicious almost 13-year-old that her brother is. And as much as I want her to have a good time this week, she may not. And I’ve got to accept that. But she did have the experience..and that’s what matters. As a mom, it’s my job to expose them to opportunities, but it’s up to them to make the most of those opportunities.

Thursday

Late Wednesday night, I got a call from the camp nurse. It appears that the oldest girl fell near the pool after dinner and sprained her knee. There was swelling, a lot of pain, and xrays. I heard back from the nurse about 6:00 a.m. Thursday and nothing was broken. The knee is wrapped and she’s taking it easy, but couldn’t wait to get back to her friends in her cabin.

We have smiles!!!!! You know I wasn’t sleeping well, right? We have photos of the little one ziplining and smiling and swimming and eating ice-cream. With friends! Wahooooooo!!!!!!!!

Friday

Wow…the week went by fast. Tonight I’ll be cleaning and organizing and doing laundry. You see, this week my friends, I have lived like I did when I was a young 20-something and single. I didn’t hang clothes up on the closest, I didn’t wash dishes every day, and the list goes on. But you know….I’ve got to restore it to how it needs to be. And do my laundry because I’ve heard the horror stories about camp laundry. And none of that horror needs to be mixed in with my clothes.

Saturday

The kids are home safe and sound. They are tired and their vocal chords are hoarse. They enjoyed their time away. The little one did tell me she had a rough few days in the beginning, but she ended up enjoying it. The injured knee is good shape, and the boy said his swag points went up.  Apparently there was some kind of cabin yelling match the morning camp ended.

Thanks for listening to me vent. And keeping me sane throughout the week. I think we can do this next year!
